SDCC: It Must Be a Sign

You never forget your first Klingon street sign!

Yesterday’s initial exploring of con locales took us all over the Gaslamp District and down to the Convention Center, which will be a hotbed of activity starting tonight with Preview Night. I’ll be visiting with some San Diego family this evening, but my roomies are doing Preview Night and should come back ready to share some extraordinary stories of the madness.

MaryJane’s before

Maryjane’s at the Hard Rock Hotel down the street from the convention center in the Gaslamp District is once again being transformed into Cafe Diem for Comic Con! I’ve heard that fans of the show should definitely plan a visit there during the con and be on the lookout for a possible surprise appearance by the occasional EUREKA celebrity or writer. 😉

Signage for the new Underworld film.

As well as street signs in Klingon, we viewed lots of movie signage skins on the windows of various giant hotels near the convention center. You really can’t appreciate the enormous size of these ad wraps until you see one in person on the side of a 30-story building! Here’s the completed Hilton San Diego Bayfront’s COWBOYS AND ALIENS wrap, along with a view of the IMMORTALS movie wrap on the Marriott Marina, and the BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY wrap being installed on the wall at Petco Park. There were even BATMAN-wrapped trolleys pulling into the SDCC station!
