Trailer, Release Date for NEO: The World Ends With You

NEO: The World Ends With You (N:TWEWY, for short) received a new trailer, announcing a list of characters and voice actors associated with the project. The game is a sequel to the cult classic Square Enix game, The World Ends With You. Since its initial release, the game has spawned several ports and an anime series, airing now. The original title was widely known for its heavy use of slang, its pop-art inspired graphics, and its unique story, all of which appears to be present in the sequel.

The cast of this game includes the likes of Paul Castro Jr. (The Skeleton Twins, God Friended Me, Limitless), Xander Mobus (Persona 5, Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Musical, Marvel Future Avengers), and Bailey Gambertoglio (Stuck, Los Lost Ones, World of Final Fantasy). This game appears to be a direct sequel to the first game, as more people are forced to play the insidious Reaper Game-a contest that only a select few people can survive. N:TWEWY appears to have several returning characters, like Coco, from the Final Remix expansion of the first game, and Neku, the main character from the original 2007 game. N:TWEWY also takes place in modern-day Tokyo, just as the first game did. The game is confirmed to be moving away from the touch-screen based gameplay of the original, in favor of a more traditional action-RPG combat system. Tetsuya Nomura has said that he designed the characters for the game, just as he did for the original game.

N:TWEWY is confirmed to be releasing on July 27th, 2021, for the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It’s also reported to be on PC later this summer, as an Epic Game Store exclusive.
