Minecraft Super Duper Graphics Pack Canceled

Minecraft’s Super Duper Graphics Pack has been canceled, according to developer Mojang.

Mojang released a statement yesterday on its website explaining the decision. “Super Duper was an ambitious initiative that brought a new look to Minecraft, but, unfortunately, the pack proved too technically demanding to implement as planned,” it said.

The Super Duper Graphics Pack was announced at E3 2017 and was going to bring improved lighting and textures. If you wanted to see what the graphics pack would’ve looked like, we included some pictures to torture you. The Super Duper Graphics Pack was also going to support 4K on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Mojang delayed the Super Duper Graphics Pack several times since its announcement in 2017. After a 2018 delay, Mojang was pretty quiet about the project. It seems the developer may have just hit some barriers that proved too difficult to overcome.

Don’t be too sad, Gamers. Surely, the modding community will come to the rescue. At least we can hope, right?
