Netflix Adds VOLTRON Revival & Del Toro’s TROLLHUNTERS

BANNER_News2013

Netflix has recently extended its 2003 deal with DreamWorks Animation, keeping The Adventures of Puss in Boots and All Hail King Julien in place while opening doors for more productions to flow into the distribution channel. With the exception of China, Netflix will have global rights to several upcoming projects.

Two of the new productions: a reboot of Voltron and a new series called Trollhunters from Guillermo Del Toro.

Voltron originally aired in syndication between September 1984 and November 1985, co-produced by World Events Productions and Toei Animation. It adapted two anime series: Beast King GoLion (for season one) and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV (season two). The show was a top-rated show during its original run, spawning a sequel series, comic books, and a one-hour special.

As for Trollhunters, aside from knowing the title and Del Toro’s involvement, all we have is a description from the announcment: “a new, fantastical world wrapped around two best friends who make a startling discovery beneath their hometown.”

Both series are set to hit Netflix sometime in 2016.
