ONCE UPON A TIME They Reset The Reset

Episode 312 “New York City Serenade”

It’s been a rather long wait for new episodes of Once Upon A Time. These split seasons can be rather annoying. Then there was some sporting event in Russia that set everyone back even further. So now that Regina pushed the Reset button at the end of the mid-season finale, where could the show possibly go from here?

When we last left our intrepid heroes in Storybrooke, Rumpelstiltskin killed himself and his father (Peter Pan), Regina cast a spell which eliminated Storybrooke and sent everyone from Fairy Tale Land back to the enchanted realm, and Emma and Henry had their memories changed where Emma raised Henry as a single mother. Then Captain Hook (who she didn’t remember) showed up at Emma and Henry’s apartment a year later, telling Emma that her parents (who she didn’t remember) needed her help.

Fast forward to after the mid-season break, and the Fairy Tale bunch arrived in their own realm where they were greeted by Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip. “We’re back.” And apparently, there was someone who would have been interested in knowing they’re back. Aurora herself said that she was worried what the unnamed person would do to her unborn baby if she and Phillip kept their arrival a secret.

Meanwhile, one year later (wow, that didn’t make sense), Emma was dating a guy named Walsh. When the two were out for dinner, Hook (who she didn’t remember) showed up again to try to appeal to Emma by sending her to Neil’s (who she didn’t remember) old apartment. Oh, and Walsh asked Emma to marry him. She needed time to think about it.

So everyone returned to Fairy Tale Land. This included the Seven Dwarfs and Jiminy Cricket. Hook wasn’t going to stick around. He wanted to go back to the Jolly Roger.

Emma went to the apartment which belonged to Neal (who she didn’t remember) and found evidence of Henry having been there. She was confused, thinking that it was impossible. She then met Hook in a park where she had him arrested for assault and criminal harassment. Of course, his talking about curses and kingdoms and offering her a memory-restoring potion probably didn’t help the matter any. Remember kids, never take potions from strangers.

While walking in a fairy tale caravan, Belle told Baelfire that they might be able to get Rumpelstiltskin back since they didn’t see the knife after Rumpel’s death. Then Grumpy told Snow that Regina couldn’t be found. Snow found Regina burying her own heart in the woods in order so she wouldn’t feel the pain of missing Henry. Snow talked her into putting the heart back in her chest. They then discovered that a flying monkey was spying on them, and it attacked. Regina missed it with a fireball. But they were rescued by Robin Hood and Little John.

Hook was released from prison, and Emma confronted him about the evidence that she found about Storybrooke, Boston, and other things she didn’t remember. He again offered her the potion. She drank it and remembered.

As the fairy tale gang came to the castle, they found that it was under a protection spell, complete with force field dome. Regina the Evil Queen was not amused. So they went off with Robin Hood to regroup before taking the castle back.

Hook and Emma were back at her apartment when Walsh showed up for a private dinner with Emma that Henry set up. Emma and Walsh go up to the roof when she told him she wouldn’t marry him. Walsh tried to talk her out of her decision, but Emma refused. So Walsh got angry and turned into a flying monkey. (I kid you not!) She beat him off with a stick before telling Hook that they’re leaving in the morning.

Emma and a ... flying monkey?
Emma and a … flying monkey?

In the morning, Emma told Henry that he’s not going to school. They were going on a trip to Maine. Hook would be going along as well, but Emma told Henry his name is Killion, and he’s the client she’s going to help on the trip.

They arrive in Storybrooke (which Henry didn’t remember). Emma went to Charming and Snow’s apartment to talk to her parents (who she now remembered). And Snow’s having another baby. They still didn’t know why they lost the last year of their lives.

Back in Fairy Tale Land, the Wicked Witch was in the castle. With the help of a flying monkey, she made a potion with Regina’s blood and she was getting ready for the confrontation. Cue the next episode when Wicked and Evil clash …
