Luke Evans Will Villain Like Gaston
Beauty and the Beast has cast Luke Evans as the villain Gaston.
Confirmed by star Emma Watson via her Twitter account, Evans (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies, Dracula Untold) will join her (as Belle) and Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens (as the Beast) in Disney’s new live action version of the musical film.
Word is that this production will also be a musical, with Bill Condon directing off a script by Steve Chbosky, rewriting a draft from Evan Spiliotopoulos.
Beauty and the Beast follows Maleficent and Cinderella in the run of updated live action retellings of Disney fairy tales. Production begins later in 2015. No release date has been set.
