The sequel has been shrouded in secrecy, with no plot details released by the studios yet. We know that Ford is reprising his role as Rick Deckard, essentially ending speculation that he was ever a Replicant. There’s no word yet on whether original cast members Sean Young and Edward James Olmos will return. Robin Wright and Dave Bautista are also in the cast.

Original director Ridley Scott is in an executive producer role for this outing, with Denis Villeneuve in the director’s chair. As much as Gosling has been front and center on the publicity, he’s either the lead for a “passing the torch” story, or he’s the new Replicant that brings Deckard back to being a Blade Runner. Pure speculation here.

Blade Runner 2049 will hit theaters October 6, 2017.
