Marvel's FORMIC WARS: BURNING EARTH hits Feb. 16 [UPDATED]
UPDATE – NEW DATE: “We’d like to thank retailers for their support of this unique partnership between Marvel and ComicsPRO, but unfortunately due to distribution concerns we’ve been forced to hold the line at February 16th to launch this series,” said David Gabriel, Marvel’s SVP of Sales. “But to show ComicsPRO retailers that we’re sorry about the change, we have some very exciting exclusives that will be announced next week in Dallas.”
Marvel has announced a release date for its seven-part prequel to Orson Scott Card‘s Hugo and Nebula winning Ender’s Saga series – FORMIC WARS: BURNING EARTH #1.
The comic will hit stands first at selected ComicsPRO retailers around the country. Co-written by Card and Aaron Johnston with art by Giancarlo Caracuzzo, FORMIC WARS: BURNING EARTH looks at the very first confrontation between humans and the Formics, the insectoid hive-like alien race that almost wiped out humanity before brilliant child prodigy Ender Wiggin ended the final war in Ender’s Game. Ender went on to become the “Speaker of the Dead”, trying to atone for what he did in the first book.
The first issue will have a limited-edition variant cover by artist Bryan Hitch.
Marvel will have a list of participating ComicsPRO retail outlets. The general release date is February 16. Card and Johnston will also be on hand for a fan signing at Chapel Hill Comics in Chapel Hill, NC.
