Sundance Joins S.H.I.E.L.D.

Well, this is completely out of left field, isn’t it?

Deadline is reporting that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is negotiations to add Robert Redford to the cast. Yes, you read that right. The Sundance Kid himself will join the project as a high-up muckety-muck with S.H.I.E.L.D.

Given that we know (or can guess) the basic storyline from the title — Bucky Barnes coming back as The Winter Soldier in some twisted suspended animation project — we can also assume that we’ll see more pieces of the two years Steve Rogers spent on the ground during World War II. Because the first movie glossed over a lot of territory between Vita-Rays and the Arctic. There has been plenty of speculation that those gaps would be fodder for future stories. Could the Howlin’ Commandos finally get their own flick?

But who would Redford play? Probably not a member of Fury’s “shadow council” group.

Could he possibly play Nick Fury, Senior?
