KRYPTON Finds Zod. Lyta Zod
As the fall season gets underway, and with attention focused on so many shows based on DC Comics characters, there’s one show that’s been skating under the radar, mainly because there hasn’t been any news to report. Now, finally, there’s some casting news on Syfy’s Krypton, the prequel to the Superman mythology being developed by David S. Goyer, Damian Kindler, and Warner Horizon Television.
British actress Georgina Campbell has been named in the role of Lyta Zod, daughter of the general. A member of the military caste on Krypton, Lyta is a cadet who also happens to be having a secret affair with Seg-El, the man who will become grandfather to Kal-El.
Campbell won the BAFTA Television Award for Leading Actress in 2015 for her work in Murdered by My Boyfriend, and also featured in After Hours. She will be in the upcoming third season of Broadchurch as well as Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. This will be her first role in the U.S.
Krypton follows the house of El two generations before the destruction of the planet. Seg-El (not yet cast) fights to redeem his family’s honor after they’ve fallen into disfavor.
Goyer and Kindler will executive produce through Goyer’s Phantom Four shingle. Colm McCarthy will co-exec and direct the pilot from a teleplay by Goyer and Ian Goldberg. The pilot will shoot in Serbia.
