Episode 310 “Scuttle”
Written by Ira Parker
Directed by Mairzee Almas

Last week we left off with Kara (Marissa Neitling) wandering the streets with no one to trust and the USS Nathan James going radio silence because they had just been attacked by the Chinese who always seem to know when they are coming. Well, we know why, Allison Shaw (Elisabeth Rohm) is taking over. She doesn’t want a government, she had POTUS Michener (Mark Moses) killed, and has current POTUS Howard Oliver (John Cothran) hostage in the White House.

This episode begins with Kara sending her mom and baby off with Chandler’s (Eric Dane) family. She knows that something serious is going to happen and she wants to make sure they are safe. She then calls Allison. Kara tells Allison there’s a mole and that Alex (Nestor Serrano) and Senator Beatty (H. Richard Greene) were murdered. She asked Allison to come alone to meet her at a restaurant. Kara is brilliant of course, and waits across the street to watch as two men show up at the restaurant. Kara’s face is pure heartbreak and disappointment; she knows Allison is the mole.

On the USS Nathan James, Chandler, Sasha (Bridget Regan), and Slattery (Adam Baldwin) are trying to figure out the location of the Chinese ships and President Peng (Fernando Chien). With the help of Takehaya’s (Hiroyuki Sanada) pirate friends, they are able to find a location of one of the Chinese ships. Now, Captain Joseph Meylan (Emerson Brooks) is watching all these negotiations very closely. He watches as Chandler and Slattery implore the help of pirates who then take some of their rations as payment. Captain Meylan lost his ship, the USS Hayward and a third of his men fighting with Chandler and he just doesn’t look too happy.

Even though Takehaya (Hiroyuki Sanada) is sharing the screen with Chandler (Eric Dane) and Sasha (Bridget Regan), he really takes up the whole screen with his presence.

With nowhere else to turn, Kara heads over to Jacob’s (Devon Gummersall) apartment. Yes, that little jerk is all she’s got, but once he realizes how he was played, he’s not such a jerk. He helps Kara. Kara is able to contact Dennis (Drew Fonteiro) and he’s able to show up with some awesome information. The region leaders are preparing to take over. They are stocking supplies and getting the prisons ready for anyone who will revolt. At this point, one of Allison’s goons busts in and fires at them, but this is when Kara is back in action! I forgot! In all this mess and her office attire, I forgot she’s military! She has herself a nice little shoot out scene. She and Jacob get away and head off in search of help from an old friend. As they are driving through region borders they notice huge construction. Military are building massive walls to separate the regions.

Phone a friend? I hope that friend lives in Texas, that’s where the best of friends live. Kara (Marissa Neitling) needs help!

Back at the White House, Allison brings in an executive order for POTUS Oliver to sign. It’s a warrant arrest for Captain Chandler. POTUS is livid and tries to refuse, but Allison strong arms him in her crazy threatening way and she also has his family. Did I mention how much I hate this woman? POTUS signs and it cuts to the USS Nathan James.

Oh, that LOOK! Allison (Elisabeth Rohm) strong arms POTUS.

Now, it gets really messy. Captain Meylan receives the message to arrest Chandler and since he’s not feeling the Tom Chandler love as much as he did before, he’s all too happy to do it. All USS Nathan James’ officers are relieved of command and USS Hayward officers take over. They set a course to go home. Chandler knows, if they head home, they are dead. Captain Meylan is a reasonable man and Chandler uses this to his advantage. Chandler asks for an immediate court martial. Captain Meylan busies himself with gathering information to prepare for the court martial.

Slattery, who was relieved of duty but not taken into custody to keep the peace, prepares to take back the ship. Step one, break out the Vulture Team. Step two…well there is no step two, because basically all you need is the Vulture Team to get anything done around there! USS Nathan James’ officers take back the ship. Captain Chandler assures Captain Meylan he’s right about Peng and the possible coup he believes might be happening back home. Captain Meylan is reluctant to believe, but really what choice does he have? Chandler sets course for Japan.

I asked for more of Captain Joseph Meylan (Emerson Brooks) and that’s what I got!

As we head into the final three episodes of the season, I just know we are in for some major twists, turns, and surprise or two, too!
