What a busy week! Thank goodness it’s finally Friday and, of course, time for the Geekly! Yay! In honor of not wasting too much time, onward with the history!

June 11th, 1982: E.T.is released in theaters.

June 11th, 1993: Jurassic Park is released in theaters.

June 12th, 2009: Television transmissions in the U.S. switch from analog to digital.

June 14th, 1951: The “Univac I” is officially dedicated. It is the first commercial computer in the U.S.

June 14th, 1952: The USS Nautilus, the first nuclear powered submarine, is laid down.

June 14th, 1967: Mariner 5 is launched from Cape Kennedy.

Of course, you can’t have your Geekly without your Twist. This week, how about a bit of Grog for your favorite pirate?

As the Jolly Rogers put it, Grog is a mix of rum and water…but you take out the water…and put in more rum!

Okay, so, for a real recipe, try this one from the folks at International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

  • 1 part dark rum
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cloves
  • lemon juice
  • stick of cinnamon

Serve in a mug and top with hot water!

Now, grog isn’t exactly a fancy drink needing a Garnish, but your Geekly certainly needs one!

So, summer is in full swing and that means the ridiculously hot days are under way. Want something amazing to do while you’re hiding from the ball of fire? You should check out Seshat Travels. If you haven’t been over there yet, you need to take a look because it’s the site of one of our awesome contributors (the amazing Debbie Bell). So, stop on by, tell her AJ sent you, and have an awesome weekend, everyone!

Until next time, geek on!
