THE FLASH Pays Off With Recurring Cast Member

The Flash has possibly just created the Easter Egg of all Easter Eggs in the show so far. Amanda Pays, who played Dr. Tina McGee in The Flash when it starred John Wesley Shipp (who now plays Henry Allen), will have a recurring role on the new iteration of The Flash, playing…
… Dr. Tina McGee.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pays will reprise her original role from The Flash that aired on CBS from 1990 to 1991. Dr. McGee, a geneticist, was Barry Allen’s ally and love interest on the original show. This new version of McGee will be an employee of a STAR Labs rival company.
Pays was most recently seen in an episode of Psych (which co-stars her IRL husband Corbin Bernsen), but she hasn’t been on the genre radar for a while (Leviathan, The X-Files).
It’s either the most meta of Easter eggs, or there’s more to the show’s pedigree than we’ve been told. Since CBS is a partner in the CW network, wouldn’t it be just one of those “pewschchh” moments if The Flash turned out to be a sequel of The Flash?
