SciFi4Chicks: GRIMM Gets Lost

Episode 503 “Lost Boys”

Based on the edit of the brief recap at the top of the episode, the cry or slogan of this Wesen uprising is “War.” I’m not sure if that will be important information in the future or not.

The panel: Kammie Settle, Maia Ades.

As the title of the episode indicates the main storyline was about the story of Peter Pan to the point that it felt forced, like being hit over the head with reminders. Their “Mother” was named Wendy. The leader of the little pack was Peter. The boys met Warden Hooke at the end of the episode. I was actually surprised that Peter couldn’t fly.

The one thing that disappointed me about this story was that Nick didn’t do anything to help these kids. Think back on all the times he’s turned a blind eye to police procedure, normal justice, to do what he felt was right. This time, it’s a group of Wesen kids that have no idea who or even what they are and he doesn’t do anything to help them find these answers in a safe way. Rest assured it’s going to come back to bite him, probably literally.

Kammie commented that this seemed like a return to the “Wesen of the week” stories, but I disagree. The Wesen of the week were all about learning about that week’s Wesen and how to get an upper hand against it. Those stories often involved a trip to the trailer to pore over the books. Of course that version won’t happen. Juliette burned down the trailer in her Hexenbiest moments. Unfortunately, little was saved from the trailer.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Nick finds some other cache of Wesen vs. Grimm information. It could be a library of some kind or a person or something completely different. It might even relate to the key storyline. I don’t have access to the writers’ room so I don’t know how they’re going to work this out. I just think that it is a need that Nick has consistently had and probably will have again. Writers, in case you read this, please don’t make it as repetitive as the weekly trips to the trailer were. Thank you.

Ah, home sweet home. Or not. The new digs lack the warmth and soft touch of the previous house. But what it lacks there, it makes up for in austere security. Nick is trying to protect his new son, Kelly, and his baby mom, Adalind. It’s a bit inconsistent about just how hidden he wants them to be. He hands over a credit card and Juliette’s car for Adalind to use. Both of those are easily tracked. You want to leave less of a trace, use only cash. It’s not as convenient but a lot harder to follow. Also, when Juliette comes back, she’s gonna be so pissed that Adalind was using her car. She just will.

Yes, I still think that Juliette could come back. Until we see her real dead body and have a funeral that’s not just Nick passed out on drugs, I think she could come back. Apparently she was not behind door #1. She might still be behind some other door #2.

Please, oh please don’t try to put Nick and Adalind together romantically. That was weird, awkward and made no sense. Why didn’t Nick just pull his thin mattress into Adalind’s space and lie on the floor? Why’d they have to go and make it more bizarro?

The big tease leading up to this week’s episode was that Rosalee was going to be kidnapped, by kids. NBC, maybe you want to think about your trailers, promos, and teasers. I get that it’s a numbers game. I understand that you need viewers for revenue. The thing is when you spill the beans by showing the audience the most exciting and the central part of the story what is left for the audience to watch? Why should they watch when you’ve already given away what’s going to happen?

I don’t know when promos started. I don’t know why we have to have a tease of the next week’s show to get the audience to watch. If you like the show, the characters, or something else, you’ll probably watch to see what’s going to happen next week. Do you need to get a preview of next week’s show to get you to watch? Do you? I’m getting tired of shows trying to top themselves and each other.

  • Are there flying Wesen? That would be cool. I am sure these kids are being trained as soldiers. Rosalee should have taken them in. I’m glad she came back, though, and glad to see Truble is alive.

  • I don’t think we’ve seen any flying Wesen. There have been bird Wesen but we haven’t seen them fly. Maybe the can, and it just hasn’t been shown yet. There was one Wesen that attacked from up in a tree. But, I don’t think it flew there.
Yes, the kids are going to be Wesen soldiers. Yes, Rosalee, Nick someone should have taken them in. He took in Truble and she had killed more than one person.
Truble had to be alive. They couldn’t knock off all the female characters in one fell swoop.

  • Totally love the Nick and Adalind thing, there’s nothing really weird, awkward yeah…but not weird. The sleeping on the same bed was way too soon though. Juliette was never really the model girlfriend and wasn’t really a loving character either, so i don’t have a problem with where the show appears to be headed. I agree with the ex the promo thing, it makes the episode less intriguing. I don’t mind the gang leaving the kids to foster care, i mean you can’t just adopt random kids, even if they’re wesen. If it was just the girl alone, then it’ll be a lot easier…she’s fuchsbau too.
