James Earl Jones Returns to STAR WARS

Star Wars: Rebels will air a special encore of the premiere, “Spark of Rebellion”, on ABC October 26 at 7pm Eastern.

What makes it special? Aside from the fact that the show’s home is Disney XD and not ABC, this particular broadcast will include a bonus scene. “We wanted to do something special for the ABC broadcast,” said executive producer Dave Filoni. “We’ve added a scene which gives audiences insight into the Inquisitor and includes a cameo by Darth Vader voiced by the distinguished actor James Earl Jones.”

That’s right. James Earl Jones will voice Darth Vader in that “bonus scene”.

The show, which recently delivered 6.5 million viewers in its Disney Channel(s) premiere, has already been renewed for a second season. Set in the time before Star Wars (the first one without an episode number, says the reporter who was there…), Rebels chronicles the beginning stages of the movement that will become the Rebel Alliance.

Could this cameo become a longer run? Could there be any connection with the rumors that Darth Vader could appear in Episode VII? If there’s any carry over with the Inquisitor character from the animated series to the films, it’s possible, however unlikely, that this could be a connection that Lucasfilm and Disney could exploit.
