UNDERWORLD 4 Gets Title

HorrorBid is reporting (and IMDb confirms, sort of) that the fourth installment in the Underworld franchise now has a title – The New Dawn.

Kate Beckinsale is set to return as vampire warrior Selene, who wakes up after a 15-year coma and learns she has a 14-year-old vampire/Lycan daughter.

Swedish filmmakers Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein have been hired to direct the story by John Hlavin, which got massaged by “Babylon 5” creator J. Michael Straczynski. Shooting is expected to begin in Vancouver in March, with a release date of January 20, 2012.

Two things working in their favor: 1. JMS is a solid story teller; and 2. The franchise has a solid track record.

Two words of warning: Alien Resurrection. This “passing the torch” to a younger generation doesn’t always work out.

  • I would swear that picture up there looks like Rhona Mitra and not Kate Beckinsale. I could be wrong!

    • Good catch!
Pulled that from the Underworld web site. We added the photo of Kate at the top.
