The Voices in Their Heads Are Sometimes Enough…

For those of you who didn’t already realize this, this weekend marks the fourth anniversary of the site. As such, we figured we’d roll out the celebrations with a new feature here on the site: the Saturday Morning Post. The SMP is the place for all of those bits and bobs we’ve wanted to wind into articles of a less serious nature. Don’t be surprised if this turns into a weekly thing, but we’ll see how this plays out. Until then, enjoy your first ever Saturday Morning Post!

While this list is by no means conclusive, nor a complete list of the roles each of these actors has done, it’s kind of a fun glimpse into those voices you THOUGHT you recognized, but had never really remembered to Google later. And, don’t worry, the order isn’t really important.

Phil LaMarr from MADtv and Pulp Fiction voiced the titular character in Samurai Jack (and is currently doing voice work in Star Wars: The Clone Wars).

Speaking of Star Wars, the ultimate Warsie himself, Simon Pegg, voiced Ben Finn in Fable III.

For those of you that are fans of the series, Ron Glass (that’s Shepherd Book to most) voiced Garth in Fable II.

And, don’t worry, that’s not where the Firefly actors stop surprising you. While many people already know that Nathan Fillion voiced Gunnery Sergeant Buck starting in Halo 3, did you know he also voiced Hal Jordan in Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and Justice League: Doom?

The Captain isn’t the only one of the crew to have delved into the DC ‘verse. Gina Torres voiced Wonder Woman in DC Universe Online.

Another voice found in the MMORPG? Adam Baldwin as Superman. He also voiced the Man of Steel for 2007’s Superman/Doomsday.

In a  fangirl-esque coincidence, Lex Luthor was voiced by James Marsters for the same film.

Speaking of Buffy actors, Eliza Dushku was none other than Selina Kyle in Batman: Year One.

Seth Green’s been voicing more than reanimated technologically enhanced poultry. He voices Flight Lieutenant Jeff ‘Joker’ Moreau in Mass Effect.

Also in the Mass Effect games? Claudia Black of Farscape.

In other console games, Sean Bean plays Martin Septim in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Which leads me to the upcoming Elder Scrolls Online, where they managed to get Dumbledore (well, Michael Gambon).

Two more awesome ladies in video games:

Rachael Leigh Cook (yes, the one from Josie and the Pussycats) lends her voice to Tifa Lockheart in nearly every English translation of anything Final Fantasy.

And the stellar Danica McKellar? She voices Jubilee in X-Men Legends and Invisible Woman in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2.

Last, but never least, Salli Richardson of Eureka voiced Elisa Maza in the ’90s TV show Gargoyles. And of, course, we can’t forget Marina Sirtis and Jonathan Frakes were all over that show…

Hopefully at least a few of these shocked you, if not, well, you’re more well versed in voice actors than little ol’ me. Who’d we miss? Who are some of your favorite voice actors? Leave us a comment and let us know!
