TERMINATOR GENISYS Trailer Is Live
Paramount and Skydance have released the first official trailer for Terminator Genisys, and it looks Pretty. Freakin’. Cool.
Especially given that expectations have been pretty low for this entry into the franchise. This film looks to be combining elements of the first two Terminator films, while at the same time establishing a brand new continuity that peels off from the time John Connor sent Kyle Reese back to save Sarah Connor from the first Terminator.
Written by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier, Terminator: Genisys is set to be the beginning of a new trilogy set in the universe created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd. The film stars Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Byung-hun Lee as a new T-1000, and Arnold Schwarzenegger as multiple T-800 cyborgs. As seen in the trailer, the story picks up in the same early moments of the first Terminator, with Kyle Reese coming back in time to save a “scared and weak” Sarah Connor.
Only in this timeline, she’s not so scared and weak.
In this timeline, Sarah was saved by a T-800 at an early age, which explains both her preparedness and the Terminator’s appearance when Reese arrives. And as we see in the trailer, there is a very clear divergence from the first film.
Although there’s not a lot to work with here, there does seem to be an effort to make this latest entry in the franchise look a lot like the first two:
