Syfy Cancels HELIX

BANNER_News2013

Not long after the end of its second season, Helix has been scrubbed from the Syfy lineup.

The network has confirmed the show has been canceled following a season marred by plummeting ratings. Debuting to 1.82 million viewers, Helix broke records in the Live+3 numbers, but in the second season the show dropped 59% to only 563,000. The season two finale earned the show’s lowest audience — only 440,000. In cable ratings terms, even that is a dismal performance.

Helix follows Ascension to the discard pile, which leaves 12 Monkeys, Defiance, and Dominion still in the lineup of shows that follow the network’s focus on more science fiction programming.

Coming up for the network: The ExpanseDark Matter, and Childhood’s End.
