Ryan Gosling Joins BLADE RUNNER Sequel

BANNER_News2013

Ryan Gosling is reported to be in negotiations to join Harrison Ford in the Blade Runner sequel.

Ford will reprise his role as the “Blade Runner” Rick Deckard, a detective trained to determine whether or not a person was a person or a “replicant” – an android with a limited shelf life. The ending of the first movie was left ambiguous enough for a decades-long debate as to whether or not Deckard himself was a replicant.

Depending on when this sequel is set — thirty years later or six — we may get an answer to that question. Word is the movie takes place several decades later, but what if it’s not?

Original director Ridley Scott is back as producer with Alcon Entertainment. Screenplay is by original co-writer Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. Director duties for the sequel fall to Denis Villeneuve, whose most recent work Sicario was just accepted into the Cannes Film Festival. Principal photography is set to start in summer of 2016.

No details on Gosling’s character as of yet.
