Jason Rothenberg, showrunner of the CW’s The 100, has written a new show that’s been ordered to pilot. Searchers is about a pragmatic brother and free-spirited sister who are forced to team up ten years after the death of their parents when they learn that their mother’s terrifying and bizarre stories might be a road map to discovering the great legends, myths, and unexplainable mysteries of the world.
Greg Berlanti, of Berlanti Productions, and Sarah Schechter will join Rothenberg as executive producers, and Warner Bros. Televsion is the studio. Berlanti is known for Green Lantern, as well as several CW shows like Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. This is the third show Berlanti Productions has had picked up for pilot this season. Deception and Raised by Wolves were both picked up by ABC.
According to Deadline, WBTV has already hired a casting director and begun scouting locations. IMDB doesn’t have anyone other than Rothenberg listed as being attached to the project yet, and no specific release date has been announced.
Though it’s not completely clear if the show will have any supernatural elements, the premise does suggest it may fall into a sci-fi/fantasy genre.
