INDEPENDENCE DAY 2 Casts Lead
The sequel to Independence Day, which will be broken out into two pictures called ID Forever (Parts One and Two), now has its lead actor in place.
The Hollywood Reporter‘s Heat Vision blog reports that Jessie Usher (Starz’ Survivor’s Remose, Level Up) has been cast as the lead, likely Dylan Dubrow, the stepson of Will Smith’s Captain Hiller. Smith will not reprise his role, but Jeff Goldblum is set to return as David Levinson. Bill Pullman has also indicated his willingness to return to the franchise.
Liam Hemsworth has also been added in lead role, although no details are yet available as to his character.
Director Roland Emmerich has said this two-part story would be “a bit like the sons takeover” twenty years after the events of the first film. Emmerich, Dean Devlin, and Harald Kloser are producing.
ID Forever Part 1 is set to release on June 24, 2016.
