DOCTOR WHO Adds a Stark
Following a tour in the United States to promote Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams is now visiting the TARDIS for a guest role on Doctor Who.
“I’m so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British Culture. I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town.”
Steven Moffat, lead writer and Executive Producer, added, “We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.”
No details on the plot of the story, and there’s no indication that Williams will be part of the episodes that now have titles: “The Girl Who Died” by Moffat and Jamie Mathieson or “The Woman Who Lived” by Catherine Tregenna. The two episodes are described as period pieces, and the titles certainly suggest they’ll be related somehow, either as a two-part story or two episodes that happen further apart in the season but are related by a common story element.
Season nine of the revived Doctor Who will air this fall. Game of Thrones will kick off season five on April 12.
