Carrie Fisher: A New Hope

It’s one of the most popular costumes in Geekdom. It’s been spoofed. It’s been adored and worshiped. Jennifer Aniston, Kristen Bell, and Yvonne Strahovski have all worn it. There’s a group photo at Comic-Con with everyone who’s wearing it (hopefully, all of them girls…). But no one wore it better than Carrie Fisher.

Guys want their girlfriends to wear it at least once. Girls… maybe they want to wear it. Maybe they don’t.

The metal bikini.

Fisher was just 105 pounds when she portrayed the spunky princess/senator/rebel. But over the years – and after battling alcohol and drug problems as well as mental illness – her weight has become fodder for bloggers.

So, now she’s fighting a new battle: with the bulge. Fisher has recently signed on to be the new spokesperson for Jenny Craig, and has already lost 12 pounds with regular exercise and plan-approved meals.

Maybe at Celebration VI, she’ll be ready to put that bikini back on…

  • I cannot wait to see what she looks like in 6 months, if things go for her like they did for Valerie.
