ABC has ordered new seasons of both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, but won’t be moving forward with the rumored spinoff as of yet.

Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. (which we discuss every week) averaged a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 on Tuesdays this season, which means that according to old-fashioned measuring sticks the show was pulling in about 4.5 million viewers (estimated).

Agent Carter will return with Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters again at the helm, and according to The Hollywood Reporter the network is still developing the spinoff that would have Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood in lead roles, although Deadline reports that it isn’t happening now. ABC is also still said to be working on a secret superhero project with American Crime‘s John Ridley, but no details of that deal have come to light.

Also of note: Forever and Resurrection have been cancelled, while Dan Fogelman’s fairytale comedy Galavant will return for another season as well. Genre-adjacent series Castle (c’mon… Nathan Fillion) has been renewed for its eighth season, but it’s still without a show-runner following the departure of David Amann, and there’s still no contract in place for Fillion’s co-star Stana Katic.

ABC has also put in an order for The Muppets, described as “a documentary-style show that will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, including breakups, romances and more adult topics that lend themselves to a reinvented version of the beloved characters fit for all ages.”

Bill Prady and Bob Kushell (The Big Bang Theory) are co-writers and executive producers along with Randall Einhorn and Bill Barretta.

Time to start the music…
