THE HOBBIT Roundup – 6.6.12

Well, it’s official (even though most of us have expected it since the start of production. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will premiere in Wellington, NZ. The confirmation announcement was made yesterday, with a date set for November 28th. [more info with vacation planning tools at TheOneRing.net]

As well as the premiere announcement, the newest production video has dropped out of the Wellywood camp. You can check it out (in HD!) on Peter Jackson’s Facebook Page. There’s also a non-HD version over at The Hobbit Blog. Sadly, there’s no new production stills…so enjoy this older one for now!

And, in news about Mr. Jackson, he’s received a special honor. The Order of New Zealand honor means it’s no longer “Mr. Jackson,” but rather “Sir Jackson.” [more on the ONZ at Wikipedia] [more on the Queen’s birthday honors]

Now, if you can’t wait to go see The Hobbit in theaters, you can always check it out on stage! There are several different types of show, information of which can be found at the always amazing site, TheOneRing.net.

Yup! As assumed once LEGO purchased the rights to both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, LEGO is releasing a LOTR video game.

Speaking of video games, Warner Brothers Entertainment announced on May 30th their newest release in Middle Earth. Guardians of Middle Earth will feature tie-ins with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and will be in a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) format. [via TheOneRing.Net] The trailer premiered a couple of days before E3, but is still being highlighted at the conference, nonetheless.

    • Me too! I know Guillermo would’ve done great with it as well, but it’s just not the same without Sir Peter Jackson at the helm. 🙂
