SciFi X/Y: The Sequelitis Episode

Some sequels do better than others. Some sequels are better than their predecessors. And some are just not worth the time or money. But how do you know? How do you know which one is going to be the gem and which will be the stinker? And who’s to say we really need a sequel to that one obscure 80s film anyway?

And then there’s sequels to reboots and remakes. After the substantial week-to-week drops in box office for so many sequels this summer, are we close to the point where the bubble bursts? Or are we overdue?
