Rob Liefeld to Write New G.I. Joe Series
Ahead of Comic-Con International in San Diego, IDW Publishing has announced that comics creator Rob Liefeld will write for a new G.I. Joe series, Snake Eyes: Deadgame. The series is going to release in early 2020, and he will serve as both the writer and the artist of this new series.
Liefeld took to Twitter to hype the project:
We are going to move so many of you with this one!! The scale and scope is massive!! https://t.co/tv0i0E2rdV

The news comes on the heels of the release of Liefeld’s new Major X title at Marvel. And while that may be the focus of his promotions work at SDCC, he’s also taking time to share his excitement about this new project.
Here we go!! Can’t wait to share this with you!! Bucket list!!! GI JOE baby!!! #snakeeyes #robliefeld #hasbro #idw #gijoe https://t.co/9ScWta8987

Liefeld is known for creating Deadpool and Cable, as well as co-founding Image Comics. Little is known about this new series, but IDW implied that it will be similar to his previous works. The IDW president and publisher/chief creative officer Chris Ryall had this to say: “The high-octane, adrenaline-fueled action and adventure Rob brings to every comic he creates is a perfect fit for Snake Eyes, and we’re all as excited as you are to see him really cut loose on the pages of this very special G.I. Joe series!”
Rob Liefeld sung similar praises of the G.I. Joe franchise.
“My parents drove me all over the county to get me G.I. Joe action figures as a kid. These were my first and most favorite toys. Working with Hasbro and all my friends at IDW has been a blast so far,” Liefeld had said. “I can’t wait to get this work out into the public! If you enjoyed my recent Marvel work, this will match or exceed it!”
And while Liefeld’s art is sometimes the object of some friendly ribbing, it’s certainly a good time to be a fan of Snake Eyes. Between the new comic series and the Snake Eyes solo film from Red director Robert Schwentke and writer of The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Evan Spiliotopoulos, there’s Snake Eyes content for fans of all walks of life to enjoy.
