MARVEL: Lawrence Out, Russos In
In an interview with MTV News while discussing the movie Serena, actress Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed that X-Men: Apocalypse will be her final outing as Mystique.
“It is my last one, actually. Yes,” she tells MTV’s Josh Horowitz.
After being a part of the ensemble in First Class and Days of Future Past, Lawrence’s character is said to have an even bigger role to play in Apocalypse.
“The relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn’t have a lot of time to explore in Days of Future Past so we’ll have an opportunity to do more of that in Apocalypse,” said screenwriter Simon Kinberg.
“Part of what’s really interesting about Mystique’s character is that she is, in some ways, the child of both Erik and Charles,” Kinberg added. “She grew up with Charles and then she sort of became a woman with Erik, so her being the cross-pollination, if you will, of those two philosophies and those two men is something we can explore in the movie, too.”
Meanwhile, Deadline has confirmed that a deal is now in place for Joe and Anthony Russo to take over for Joss Whedon on Avengers: Infinity War. This follows the brothers getting a deal at Sony, with rumors flying that the two would also take over the next entry in the Spider-Man franchise. In addition, there are also rumors swirling about that they’ll be involved in the Ghostbusters project spear-headed by Channing Tatum, although that’s not been confirmed.
