The Vertigo Comics-inspired series Lucifer has received orders for an additional nine episodes by FOX. This will make the total episodes for the 2016-2017 season to a full order of 22.

During his announcement today, Fox Broadcasting President David Madden stated, “Lucifer continues to deliver, with great blast of dark humor and ambitious story telling. The show has turned out to be a true wicked pleasure, the perfect companion to Gotham and we couldn’t be more pleased to order these nine additions episodes.”

The ratings for the show have been constant, sometimes even edging Monday companion Gotham with an average of 8.0 million multi-platform viewers.

Based on characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Drigenberg for the DC Entertainment-based Vertigo Comics imprint, Lucifer is about the original fallen angel, bored and unhappy, who abandons his throne in Hell and retires to Los Angeles. There assists LAPD detective Chloe Decker to take down criminals. Tom Ellis stars as the ex-Lord of Hell and Lauren German is his partner against crime. Jerry Bruckheimer, Tom Kapinos, and Jonathan Littman produce.

Another show Fox has placed orders for is freshman Lethal Weapon, from five episodes to a full season of 18. The futures of The Exorcist and Pitch has yet to be determined. Lucifer joins NBC comedy Superstore for sophomore shows receiving full season pickups.

Lucifer airs at 9:00 PM ET/PT on FOX.
