Ford’s representatives at UTA have issued a statement that gave a few more details: Ford’s plane suffered engine failure after his take-off from Santa Monica Airport. He’s expected to make a full recovery.

ORIGINAL STORY: Actor Harrison Ford has been injured in a plane crash in Los Angeles.

Ford, who is an avid pilot, was flying a vintage Ryan PT-22 World War II 2-seater plane when it went down at the Penmar Golf Course, just west of the Santa Monica Airport. He was reported to be bleeding from cuts on his head, and was treated on the scene by two physicians who were at the golf course at the time of the crash. Once stabilized, he was transported to a local hospital.

First responders on the scene report that Ford, 72, was in moderate condition when they arrived. He was alert and conscious outside of the plane. Earlier reports said he was in critical condition, but that does not appear to be the case.

According to a report on Deadline, Ford had been turning to land at Santa Monica when the plane went down short of the airport.

The National Transportation Safety Board an the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the incident to determine the cause of the crash. Ford was the only person injured. He is reported to be in stable condition.
