Edgar Wright Bugs Out of ANT-MAN (UPDATED)
UPDATE 5-23-14 1934hrs: There’s a thread on Reddit, in which a user named “Neonxeon” quotes a source close to the film: Wright may have been fired from the project for being behind schedule and over budget. Neonxeon claims a member of the production crew at Pinewood Studios in Georgia had mentioned this three weeks ago.
However, another user going by the name “shyallude” says this is not the case, and says he (or she) is on the production crew.
So, whom to believe?
Original Story Follows:
Marvel Studios and Scott Pilgrim‘s Edgar Wright released a joint statement today announcing that the studio and director have amicably parted ways on Marvel’s Ant-Man due to “differences in their vision of the film.” The news comes as something of a surprise since Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president of production, repeatedly stated since the beginning of development that the opportunity to tell Ant-Man‘s story through the lens of Edgar Wright was “the only reason we’re making the movie.”
Wright has been attached to the project since 2006 and regularly attended San Diego Comic Con to provide updates on its development. In 2012, he showed test footage to give everybody a taste of his approach to the character.
The movie, starring Paul Rudd as the title character, alongside Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly, is still scheduled to release on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.
