We're Packing Up

It’s been quite a busy few weeks over here, with all of the packing and loading and saving and archiving…

SciFi4Me is about to move, and we should probably warn you about it. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be importing, exporting, transferring, copy-and-pasting… in an effort to deliver more content, with a slightly sleeker design, plus have a way of generating a little revenue with our affiliate marketing programs. In our time on WordPress, we’ve grown quite a bit, but now we’re past the point where we’ve outgrown WP, and it’s time to shift over to a hosting server that accommodates a little more of our needs.

None of this would be possible without you, dear readers, so I want to make sure all of our subscribers make the transition with us. So we’ll be updating on a regular basis as we get closer to pulling the trigger on the switch. After that, you’ll need to re-subscribe so you can continue getting our latest updates.

It’s all part of our plan for world domination growing into a new business model, one that will allow us to start generating some revenue at the same time we work to bring you more news from the genre community.

Why try to make money? Well, to be honest, I think there’s an opportunity here. Not only do our statistics show that we perform just as well as the Big Dogs when it comes to time-on-site and how many pages each visitor reads, but our numbers also show that we appeal to a broader age range than the Other Guys. Which means if we can get our number of visitors up, we can reach a broader spectrum audience with our content. It’s all a matter of scale. We don’t have a million visitors a month (yet), but when we do…

That’s where the ad revenue comes in. Basically, we’re in our “growing season”, and the revenue we generate will go mainly toward marketing and promotion efforts — we need to tell people we’re here, and to do that we’ll have to buy ad space, booth space, etc. This will also help us get out to meet you more often, as we’ll have a better chance of hitting conventions in the “Day Trip Zone” around Kansas City.

So, keep an eye out for more announcements about SciFi4Me 3.0 and the move to the new server. We don’t want to leave anyone behind.
