Syfy’s PROTOTYPE Gets a Lead
Deadline is reporting that Jack Davenport will star in Syfy’s new show, Prototype. He’ll play Edward “Eddy” Conway, aging playboy and Silicon Valley wunderkind who now teaches physics at UCLA.
Conway’s lack of self-control has gotten him involved with some less-than-stellar personalities over the years, and he’s now involved in a project that could be his most dangerous yet. He and his cohorts stumble onto an invention that challenges quantum physics, and it puts them in grave danger.
Oscar nominee Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Esposados) will direct the pilot, written by Tony Basgallop (24: Live Another Day), and the two will executive produce with Taylor Latham (Freeheld).
Davenport is perhaps best known to American audiences as Norrington in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. He has also appeared in Kingsman: Secret Service, Smash, Flashforward, and Swingtown.
Fun facts: While Jack Davenport is best known in the US for Pirates, his breakout role in the UK was in the BBC romantic comedy Coupling (2000 – 2004) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0237123/fullcredits/
