Syfy Goes for a SPIN
Syfy has announced plans to adapt Robert Charles Wilson’s Hugo Award-winning novel Spin into a six-hour miniseries, with a script by Jim Uhls.
Uhls (Fight Club, Semper Fi, Jumper) will adapt the novel, which was published in 2005, the first book in a trilogy that includes Axis and Vortex.
The story follows Jason Lawton and Tyler Dupree, as they — along with the rest of mankind — deal with a mysterious membrane that envelopes the Earth, slowing down time relative to the rest of the universe. Both end up working at a company called Perihelion, which is focused on dealing with the “spin membrane” and efforts to colonize Mars.
Universal Cable Productions will produce the project, along with Rob Morrow’s Bits and Pieces Picture Company and Olympus Picture’s Leslie Urdang. Bits and Pieces Picture Company produces and develops film/tv/digital content. Currently they are working with The Weinstein Company on a new half hour cable series.
