SciFi X/Y 05 — Remake THE LAST STARFIGHTER? Well…

With word that The Last Starfighter is coming back (maybe), we turn our attention to the original. Do you go ahead with a remake? A sequel? A reboot that takes it in a different direction (which is the current rumor)?

What about making a “Special Edition” that replaces the ground-breaking visual effects with new CGI? Would The Last Starfighter benefit from the same treatment Star Wars and Star Trek: The Original Series got?

  • Hi Guys,

Here are my thoughts on this subject.

    1. Updating movies to make them look better is perfectly fine. It helps make them fresh as long as it’s done with care. Some movies do not age well and need a facelift to help a new generation enjoy them.

    2. I still have my Atari 2600, it ‘s gathering dust in the next room, perhaps I should let you borrow it sometime.

    3. Atari, NES, Gameboy, Super NES, in that order.

4.Pixels will probably bomb, as Adam Sandler just can’t cut it these days.

    5. When you first saw BB-8 (the ball droid) in the trailer didn’t you think it was CGI? See! We can’t tell the difference until we know the difference unless they make it painfully obvious.

    6. The Star Wars prequels weren’t that bad, the acting sucked but the rest of it wasn’t that bad.

There you go lady and gentleman. Good job, looking forward to the next one.

    • Thanks for the comment! Thanks for ordering the game units for us, it’s been many years. Where does Sega fit in, or is it even worth mentioning? My boys and I are looking forward to “Pixels”, but for different reasons I’m sure. I think you’re right about Adam Sandler, but I’m hoping you’re wrong if that makes sense. Thanks for listening!
