Remastered STAR OCEAN: FIRST DEPARTURE Gets Release Date

Square Enix has announced a release date for the remaster of one of their most prolific JRPGs, Star Ocean. First announced in May, the remake is of Star Ocean: First Departure, and is being dubbed Star Ocean: First Departure R. The game comes with a slew of improvements, like having three different dubbing options for the dialogue and improved graphics. The game will also have increased difficulty, quicker movement speed for traveling the world, and new artwork.

If you pre-order the game, you’ll get a PS4 theme, with new artwork by Katsumi Enami and pixel art of the main characters. You’ll also receive a digital soundtrack of the Star Ocean Live 2019 Concert.

Star Ocean: First Departure tells the story of a young man, Roddick, who sets off on a journey to find a cure for a deadly disease. His quest takes him across the stars, where he meets all sorts of strange new people.

The remaster will come out on December 5th, 2019, for the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch.
