Nicole Beharie, Late of Sleepy Hollow, Joins Remake of Jacob’s Ladder
Sleepy Hollow star Nicole Beharie has joined Jesse Williams and Michael Ealy in the remake of the 1990 film Jacob’s Ladder, according to Variety. Beharie’s character on Sleepy Hollow, Abbie Mills, sacrificed herself in the shocking third season finale of the series and will not be returning if there is a fourth season.
SLEEPY HOLLOW Saves the World but Takes the Show Down in Flames
The original Jacob’s Ladder was a psychological thriller about a Vietnam veteran, played by Tim Robbins, who was plagued by visions and strange flashbacks. It was directed by Adrian Lyne, who also directed Fatal Attraction and 9 ½ Weeks. The remake is described as a “modern day paranoid action thriller about two brothers”. David Rosenthal is set to direct. He also directed Ealy in The Perfect Guy.The film will be produced by LD Entertainment, Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films, and Will Packer Productions.
There is no word yet as to what role Nicole Beharie will play. As the film is described quite differently from the original, there may be very different roles. It’s hard to understand why Jacob’s Ladder would be rebooted. It is an excellent and unique film that has gathered a cult following over the years. I don’t understand how it could be improved on. It was not a box office hit, barely breaking even. Everyone knows what the surprise ending is. However, as the reboot is described differently it may yet be its own movie.
