Moonves: CBS Plans Freshmen Renewals; SUPERGIRL to Get Season 2?

BANNER_News2013

Deadline is reporting that CBS chief Les Moonves has said the network plans to renew five of its freshmen shows.

Headshot_LesMoonvesSpeaking to the Deutsche Bank Media, Internet & Telecom Conference, Moonves said, “We have about five new shows on this year. Of those five, I believe all five of them will be renewed, and we own four of them.”

Deadline contacted CBS for clarification, as freshman show Angel from Hell has already been cancelled, and two shows have yet to debut: Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Rush Hour. The four shows owned by CBS are Limitless, Code Black, Angel from Hell, and the Criminal Minds spinoff.

This means a likely second season for Supergirl, which currently holds a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been steady in the ratings. Those numbers should get a boost when Grant Gustin appears as the Flash on the March 28th episode in a crossover with CW’s top series The Flash.

Note that Moonves made these comments as part of an overall pitch for investors to throw money at CBS. This is not an official renewal announcement.
