MARVEL Confirms Cumberbatch as DOCTOR STRANGE
Marvel has officially announced what everyone pretty much already knew: Benedict Cumberbatch will play Dr. Stephen Strange in the upcoming solo film featuring the Sorcerer Supreme.
Doctor Strange is set to hit screens November 4, 2016, and has many wondering if the first solo film will be an origin story, since Strange was name-checked in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as a person already under the watchful eyes of S.H.I.E.L.D./Hydra. Many speculate that Strange’s origin might be told in flashbacks along the way as the “present day” story unfolds. Jon Spaihts is working up the screenplay based on a draft by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. Scott Derrickson is set to direct.

Producer and Marvel Studios exec Kevin Feige says, “The idea of this film is to open up an entire new corner of the Cinematic Universe…We have our Earth-bound heroes. We have our cosmic heroes. We now want to enter through, with Strange, this world of parallel dimensions.”
Now that Marvel has confirmed the casting rumor that Feige wouldn’t address at the big Phase II and Phase III rollout, maybe that other rumor will get some attention in the near future. You know the one. About a certain friendly neihborhood…. nah.
