KINGDOMS OF AMALUR is Getting a Remaster

Fans of the PS3 classic Kingdoms of Amalur can rejoice. The one-hit-wonder RPG is getting remastered. After accidentally leaking the game on an official website, the official Kingdoms of Amalur Twitter account announced the game outright, promising “gameplay tweaks” and “remastered visuals.”

Frankfurt, the company who remastered the first two Darksiders games, will be handling this game, as well. The game is slated to be released this summer, though a precise release date has not been stated. The remaster is being dubbed Kingdoms of Amalur: The Re-Reckoning.

“Yes, it’s true and accurate,” said Florian Emmerich when questioned about the accidental reval, head of public relations for THQ Nordic, who is publishing the remaster. “The news was not supposed to go out yet, which can be summarized as ‘oopsy daisy’ on our end. We hope people are still looking forward to playing Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning in Summer.”

With Todd McFarlane (Spawn) as the head art designer and Grant Kirkhope as the lead composer (Banjo Kazooie, Smash Brothers Ultimate), the original game released in 2012. Kingdoms of Amalur was praised for its bold visuals, stunning world, and fantastical musical score.

THQ Nordic said that more info will be presented in a few weeks, and that you can find more info on the official Kingdoms of Amalur Discord. The game is up for pre-order on Amazon for the PS4, and a PC version is confirmed to exist, as well as a Collector’s Edition that comes with a statue of the iconic character Alyn Shir.
