Indiana Jones Returns. The Real One. Not a Reboot.

The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm have announced Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford will reunite for a fifth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will produce with Frank Marshall, her frequent producing partner (and husband). The two produced the earlier films in the series. Spielberg will once again direct.

“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios in a press release. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

This follows Disney chief Bob Iger’s December 2015 statement that a new film was forthcoming, but there were no details as to cast, crew, reboot, sequel… and with the news that Ford is returning, it would seem the reboot question has been answered as well.

Indiana Jones and the _____________ will hit theaters July 19, 2019.
