We can all probably quote at least one of Doctor McCoy’s brash sayings. Besides “He’s dead, Jim” the good Southern doctor (who peeked only in the line of duty) was known to say other things, making sure his profession did not include various random skills required by other specialties — engineering, masonry, physics, etc.

But McCoy wasn’t the only one who had to make sure people understood the nature of his work.
