First DEMON SLAYER Blu-Ray Arrives in the West this June

The popular anime, Demon Slayer, is finally getting a home media release in the West.

Earlier today, AniplexUS (Seven Deadly Sins, The Promised Neverland, Nisekoi) announced that first half of the award winning series shall release on June 30th, 2020.  The second set, containing the ladder half of season 1, shall release on November 20th, of the same year. AniplexUS also announced that each Blu-Ray will receive a Special Edition, containing different box art, made by the series’ character designer, Akira Matsushima, a special booklet containing staff commentary, character art and scene designs, a set of character cards, and soundtrack CD’s by Go Shiina.

Both regular and special editions come with two sets of commentary, one from the English crew, and one from the Japanese crew. It will also come with textless versions of the openings and endings, as well the option to watch it in its native Japanese language or the English dub.

Demon Slayer is an adaptation of the Shonen Jump manga of the same name, which began serialization in 2016. The series is about a young man whose entire family was eaten by the king of demons, which lead to him joining the Demon Slayer Corps, both to kill the man who stole everything from him, and to turn his sister back into a human being. The series achieved critical acclaim and broke several sales records, becoming one of the best selling mangas ever made.

The English dub features many big names in the voice acting industry, like Bryce Papenbrook (Nagito Komeda in Danganronpa 2, Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan, Caesar Zeplli in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure), Johnny Yong Bosch (Ichigo in Bleach, Adam Park in Power Rangers, Hajime in Danganronpa 2), Zach Aguilar (Siegfried in Fate/Apocrypha, Colt in HunterxHunter, Koichi in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure) and Abby Trott (Annette in Fire Emblem: Three Houses,  Veronica Liones in Seven Deadly Sins, Eliza in HunterxHunter).

The sequel to the anime, titled Demon Slayer the Movie; Mugen Train is set to release on October 16th, 2020. The manga will finish its serialization in May.
