Fall Season Preview

The Hollywood Reporter has a list of the pilots coming up this fall season, and we’ve trimmed it to the genre (or genre-looking) shows. Let’s see… two versions of “Beauty and the Beast” (with the same title, no less). Something from Roland Emmerich (that has to have ‘splosions…). Something that may be a copycat of The Dresden Files, and something that’s definitely a copycat of The Hunger Games.

Along with the supernatural, ghost-in-the-whatchamacallit plots, an American Sherlock with Lucy Liu as Watson, magic forces, supernatural forces, conspiracy forces… and not a single show set in space.

Take a look and tell us what you think. [Full story at THR]

  • So ABC and CW are both working on pilots called Beauty and the Beast? How does that happen? The only thing on this list I’m excited about is Arrow. I saw the early promo stills of the costume and I like the direction they’re going with it and the talent they’ve got lined up. The addition of Paul Blackthorne in Arrow is a huge bonus too. I just found The Dresden Files on my employer’s, DISH’s, free streaming site: dishonline(dot)com. It has a ton of content so I really shouldn’t have been surprised to stumble on old favorites, but it was still fun to start watching The Dresden Files again, and the quality through the site looked great too. I just hope Arrow doesn’t meet the same early end.

    • The CW B&B is a direct reboot of the CBS show starring Linda Hamilton. I expect the other one to take the original story and adapt it in the way of “Fables” or “Once Upon a Time”. One of them is going to have to change titles, though.
