EUREKA Begins the Final Countdown

Returns Monday, April 16th

So, here we are.

The final season of Eureka is upon us. For anyone interested in catching up, you can start with the season finale here. And you can read some cast notes from the final season press kit here at the New York Post.

Let’s set aside the fan irritation that Syfy has taken another perfectly put-together show that’s actually working and has an audience and seems to be doing pretty well enough in the ratings… and cancelled it. Let’s set aside the fact that this seems to be a pattern with the Powers That Be over at the Syfy network. Let’s set aside the fact that no one in fandom will make enough noise to capture the attention of said Powers That Be long enough to affect a change that will give us back the Sci Fi Channel.

That ship has sailed, folks.

Which leaves us here: the Astraeus has taken off for parts unknown. Allison is trapped aboard with the crew. Jo has left Eureka to go find herself. Carter is faced with raising Allison’s kids while she’s gone. Fargo and Holly have made the… erm .. leap… and things are generally chaotic in the moments after the ship disappeared.

In the season opener, “Lost”, the ship returns after four years away. Besides that, what do we know? The ship crash lands. And from the clips, it doesn’t look like Titan. So do they crash back on Earth? Circle around to Eureka four years later?

That remains to be seen, but then the rest of the season seems to be a “Four Years Earlier” arc. Personally, I hate it when shows do this. I really really hate it. And Eureka is about to do it on a season-sized scale. Let’s hope it turns out well.
