BFG Adds Bill Hader

Headshot_BillHaderSaturday Night Live‘s Bill Hader has been added to the cast of BFG.

An adaptation of the 1982 novel by Roald Dahl, BFG tells the story of a little girl who leads the Queen of England and a “Big Friendly Giant” on an adventure to stop other giants from eating people. Hader will play one of the “other giants” in the picture. Mark Rylance will star as the BFG, with Ruby Barnhill as the little girl.

Steven Spielberg is set to direct from a script by Melissa Mathison, who worked with Spielberg on E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. DreamWorks acquired the right’s to Dahl’s story in 2010, and Walden Media is co-financing.

Rumors are also circulating that Martin Freeman could be up for a role, but no details have emerged as yet. BFG is set to begin shooting in Vancouver soon.
