Who’re You Gonna Call? Paul Rudd
Paul Rudd is the latest performer to join the cast of the new Ghostbusters.
In a short video posted on YouTube, the Ant-Man star revealed the casting news while standing in front of the famous firehouse location featured in the previous films.
According to Variety, Rudd will play a teacher, joining previously announced cast members Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), McKenna Grace (Gifted). Carrie Coon (Fargo, The Sinner) is also said to be in negotiations to join the project.
In an interview with Parade a few weeks ago, Sigourney Weaver confirmed that she will reprise her role as Dana Barrett, and she appeared to confirm that the other members of the original cast — Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis — would also be back when she mentioned “the guys”.
When asked about Weaver’s comment while promoting Toy Story 4, Annie Potts told Los Angeles station KTLA, “I have heard some things. If it’s true, what I’ve heard… Yeah, I think it’s gonna happen…”
Coming to theaters in the summer of 2020, the new Ghostbusters will be written and directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, who produced and directed the first two films in 1984 and 1989.
