Third Season Ordered for STAR WARS REBELS
Disney XD has ordered a third season of Star Wars Rebels, according to a report in Deadline.
The announcement was made on the Star Wars web site, quoting Disney XD’s senior vice president, programming and General Manager Marc Buhaj: “We are proud to bring our audience a third season of Star Wars Rebels, a series that has resonated across generations.”
“We’re very proud of our incredibly creative Rebels team,” Lucasfilm SVP Development Kiri Hart said in the announcement. “The show continues to tell fun, heartfelt, exciting new Star Wars stories week after week, and it’s beloved by fans of all ages. Season 3 will see our rebel heroes face new obstacles and find new allies in their fight against the Empire.”
Buhaj added, “The creative team behind the series continues to do a brilliant job in delivering on the key tenets that fans have come to expect from a Star Wars property including adventure, hope and the battle between good vs. evil.”
TV Guide will have a Rebels cover and feature coverage of Star Wars in the issue hitting stands Thursday, December 3rd. Rebels is part of the larger Star Wars universe, with rumors of possible connections to the upcoming feature film Rogue One. Episode VII: The Force Awakens will be in theaters Friday, December 18th.
Production is already underway on season three of Rebels, and new episodes will air in 2016.
