The Geekly with a Twist: February 1st-6th

Well, for those of you who live in the Midwest, you know what a crazy week it’s been. For those of you who don’t know: it was nearly 80 degrees outside on Monday and today, well, we’re lucky to be in the double-digits. So, a little LESS crazy is history! So, onward with the history!

February 1st, 1884: The first volume of the Oxford English Dictionary is published.

February 1st, 1946: Known for her role as Sarah Jane Smith in the Doctor Who world, Elisabeth Sladen is born in Liverpool, England.

February 2nd, 1949: Brent Spiner, the actor and comedian behind Data, is born in Houston, Texas.

February 3rd, 1970: A man whose career spans multiple fandoms, Warwick Davis is born in Epsom, Surrey.

February 3rd, 1995: Eileen Collins becomes the first female Shuttle Pilot when she flies as pilot aboard STS-63.

February 4th, 1906: Noted astronomer, Clyde Tombaugh (the man who is famous for his discovery of both Pluto and the Kuiper belt) is born near Streator, Illinois.

February 4th, 2004: Facebook is launched.

For your Twist, how about a Facebook Cocktail?

  • 2 parts blue curacao
  • 2 parts light rum
  • 1 dash spiced rum
  • 1 teaspoon frozen whipped topping

Mix alcoholic ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Top with the frozen whipped topping and enjoy!
